A letter from the Maine Windjammer Association Captains

We know many of you have concerns about planning vacations and travel while the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to develop. The Maine Windjammer Association captains are keeping a weather eye on the ever-evolving situation and share your concerns as we continue to monitor developments. Currently, we are optimistic that the 2020 schedule of trips will proceed as planned. We also pledge that when you’re ready to sail, we’ll be here to welcome you on board our safe, clean, and historic windjammers for the vacation you seek after a long winter and a difficult spring.

When you sail with us, your safety and well-being are our highest priority. In response to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Maine Windjammer Association fleet is taking the following actions:

* We are following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and continue to adhere to all federal, state and local directives.

* In addition, we are monitoring the Coast Guard’s notices to mariners and taking additional steps to meet and exceed any further guidelines for the safety of our guests and crew.

* Each one of our vessels already follows strict guidelines for sanitation and cleanliness; we’re reviewing all those procedures and will implement increased cleaning protocols as advised by the CDC and Coast Guard. It is worth noting here that the vessels of the Maine Windjammer Association have an excellent safety record.

* We trust that most guests share our optimism for the cruise season to commence as planned, as we have received very few requests to change or cancel bookings. These requests are being handled on a case-by-case basis by each boat individually. Should you need to make a change to an already reserved trip, please contact the boat you’re planning to sail on directly.
