Maine Windjammer Association Voted #1 Maine Attraction

Camden, MAINE— The Maine Windjammer Association received First Place in the 2017 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards in the category of Best Maine Attraction.

An initial field of 20 nominees selected by a panel of experts was whittled down to 10 winners over a four-week online voting period this fall. Rules allowed the public to vote online for one nominee per day.

Second and Third Place winners were awarded to Pemaquid Point Light and Maine Maritime Museum, respectively. The complete list of winners can be found on the USA Today 10Best site: http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-maine-attraction/

According to Meg Maiden, Marketing Director for the Maine Windjammer Association, “The Captains were thrilled—and incredibly honored—to have received top billing in this 10Best Readers’ Choice Award, especially with a field filled with so many wonderful Maine icons like L. L. Bean and Acadia National Park. We thank our guests and friends of the fleet for taking the time to vote for us.”

In addition to editors from USA Today and 10Best.com, the nominees for Best Maine Attraction were selected by Maine travel expert Hilary Nangle and author Eric D. Lehman.

The Maine Windjammer Association offers 3- to 6-day sailing adventures that allow visitors to experience an array of Maine’s attractions—from lobster and lighthouses to Acadia and the many fine museums, shops and restaurants in Camden and Rockland, homeports for the fleet.
